Properties:

Oxitoland contains oxymetholone, a potent anabolic androgenic drug. It is indicated for the treatment of anemia caused by deficient red blood cell production. Oxymetholone increases the production of erythropoietin in patients with anemia due to bone marrow deficiency and often stimulates erythropoiesis in anemia due to deficiency in red blood cell production.

Directions:

Oxymetholone (50 mg) is indicated for the treatment of anemias caused by deficient production of red blood cells. Acquired aplastic anemia, congenital aplastic anemia, myelofibrosis and anemias due to the administration of myeloxic substances often respond to treatment. The administration of oxymetholone (50 mg) should not exclude other supportive measures, such as: blood transfusions, iron, folic acid, vitamin B12 and pyridoxine correction, antibacterial therapy and the appropriate use of corticosteroids.

Contraindications:

Before initiating therapy, the physician must weigh the risks against the patient's needs. Anabolic agents are generally contraindicated in the following situations:

1. Prostate or breast carcinoma in male patients.
2. Breast carcinoma in female patients with hypercalcemia; anabolic androgenic steroids may stimulate osteolytic bone resorption.
3. Pregnancy: Oxymetholone may be harmful to the fetus. If the patient becomes pregnant while using this drug, she should be informed of the potential hazard to the fetus.
4. Nephrosis.
5. Hypersensitivity to the drug.
6. severe liver failure.
7. Breastfeeding: It is not known whether anabolic steroids are excreted in human milk. Because of the potential risk of adverse reactions in nursing infants from breast milk containing anabolic steroids, a woman taking oxymetholone should not breastfeed.
